Why MOQ at least 3000pcs for custom tin box?

Some customers may wonder why the minimum order quantity is at least 3000pcs for custom tins. It is mainly because of the cost. Too vital factors are: Printing & labor cost.

  1. Printing: The most common metal printing machine comes from FUJI KIKAI KOGYO CO.,LTD, PRIMEX Series. It’s very expensive. E.g PRIMEX-P453, cost around USD 1.4 million, and it must work with an oven to dry the tin sheets after printing, which costs around USD 0.3 million. Plus employing experienced printing engineers, the final cost for printing metal is much more expensive than printing paper. Small tips: Most tin box factories don’t have their own printing machine because of this high cost. So these companies run alone, just do printing.

2. Labor cost: Tin boxes are produced by punching machines, and not one machine, normally 8-12 machines. First engineers install the molds on the machine, then adjust the mold to the best condition and test, and finally start punching by trained workers. Output 600~1000pcs/h. Installing all molds would take 1~2 days. If only make 500pcs, half-hour enough, but takes 2 days to install molds. So most tin box factories charge a basic cost for all small orders which under 3000pcs, to make sure their business is sustainable.
